Question 1: Why the need to digitise yourself?

The ultimate goal of our corporate academy called Academy by Apside is to make Apside a learning organisation. Digitisation should enable us to:

  • respond to the dispersion of employees across the territory,
  • develop employee loyalty, i.e. to board new employees, to support the increase in skills of employees and to offer them new functions such as trainer, digital designer, tutor, and trainer of trainers,
  • capitalise on the knowledge of collaborators, i.e. strengthen inter-agency collaboration on major technical themes beyond chat tools, improve knowledge sharing, particularly through the design of training resources, testimonials and best practices, and develop peer-to-peer training,
  • industrialise training, i.e. to develop the internal training offer and diversify training methods by relying on the skills of employees, particularly those of experts, in order to eventually become self-sufficient in the group's major technical themes,
  • monitor and develop employee skills, i.e. to propose a personalised skills development plan to employees through adapted training courses validated by experts.

Question 2: What are the reasons for choosing myskillcamp?

For various reasons including :

1) The takeover of the existing system:

The myskillcamp LXP allows us to integrate the existing and the specificities of the company into the launch of our corporate academy project:

  • by the management of a catalogue of potential training courses by the functionality of requesting modules without associated sessions,
  • by taking into account the TechLead function of our experts through the mentoring functionality,
  • by integrating external digital learning content provided by Edflex and Bookboon, and tomorrow why not by LinkedIn or Pluralsight, ...
  • finally, by hosting our digital resources and access to the platform in SAAS (Software As A Service) mode, so that we do not have to invest in expensive hardware architecture.

2) A simple and complete tool:

  • The LXP myskillcamp is a simple, intuitive and complete tool: the ergonomics of the platform was completely reviewed last year and the ergonomics of its content creation tool will be reviewed this year. The roadmap of the tool is open and its development iterations are short, which allows to influence the evolution of the platform. Finally, myskillcamp proposes to participate in workshops for the co-construction of use cases to enrich its LXP: Apside thus participates in the design and development of functionalities such as pay per course or the management of trades and skills.

3) Support for the different training modalities:

  • The LXP myskillcamp supports the different training methods. It integrates a virtual classroom tool: learncube and transitions between content to design SPOC, MOOC and other formats remotely. It also allows the management of synchronous times for hybrid training and the creation of training paths, called trajectories, from content of different origins and typologies.

4) The implementation of the 3 times of the training :

  • The LXP myskillcamp allows the implementation of the training action model in 3 stages: "before/during/after":
  • pre-training by the platform's remote training and evaluation systems,
  • synchronous training by managing both face-to-face sessions and remote sessions with the integrated virual class tool,
  • post-training through the professional community and mentoring features, but also through the "I support" menu dedicated to the trainer, which enables him to support and tutor learners in the so-called "before" and "after" times, and lastly, through the integration of mobile learning solutions such as Beedeez, Drillster, Sparted or TeachOnMars via xApi or simple Api.

5) The integration of precise teaching practices

The LXP myskillcamp allows some precise and expected pedagogical practices such as :

  • formative evaluation with the quiz activity in "training mode" which allows the questionnaire not to be taken into account in the final scoring of the module,
  • learner autonomy through the possibility offered to consult a module in a non-linear way,
  • rich feedback in three stages through text formatting and the integration of digital resources such as video,
  • the notion of a clue by the possibility of inserting a clue in the form of text, image, sound or even a video in a question to help recall the knowledge being questioned.
  • the integration of all types of digital resources, including the technical resources of code-based learning platforms such as or Codingame,
  • and finally the Peer Review already mentioned by the professional community functionality in particular ...

6) Management and labelling of skills

The LXP myskillcamp will enable the evaluation and labelling of skills to monitor and ensure the development of employees' skills. This involves in particular supporting and then evaluating the acquisition of skills and their transfer to the workplace by the employee during post-training in order to be able to label them in the end.

Question 3: What have been the benefits of an extended POC?

The implementation of a strategy of experimentation of the platform through two 6-month periods allowed us to gradually increase the capacity of the platform to optimise costs, to be able to take the tool in hand and to develop content to present a catalogue containing more than 60 modules at the official launch of the platform, but also to lead the change management internally and to test the functionalities in order to adapt them to our needs...

Question 4: Is blended learning a good idea or a bad idea?

What a question, for of course! Moreover, Apside is taking advantage of the start of the 2020 academic year to launch two SPOCs, the first on business engineering and the second on project and delivery management. These training actions are based on blended learning. While the second is 100% digital in order to adapt to the current health context, the objective is to combine synchronous time in order to use the social levers of learning and asynchronous time in order to develop autonomy, collaboration and optimise training time while supporting learners through tutoring and coaching:

Question 5: What do your learners think of this new learning experience?

The feedback from beta testers is generally very positive both on the platform and on the content offered by the academy. Our employees are used to learning online because of their profession, but the pay per course and the possibility of enriching our catalogue with external training content make it easier to win over people's minds. Finally, the most difficult population to convert may be our managers who do not have direct contact with the LXP because their need for training is less significant.

Conclusion: A word of advice for all those who are starting out?

Our platform has just been put into production and the conquest of minds is still in progress, so this question is not a simple one, even if we admit that we can give advice. However, a first feedback from our experimentation, could be to specify that the LXP is only a tool. However, digitalisation must be part of a more global strategy in which change management and communication seem to us to be essential for the success of the project.
